About
The Mobile Prosumer is a mobile phone application for delivering relevant product information to consumers at the Point of Sale. It uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to identify products.
The project was started in Summer 2006 as a research project at the University of Arts, Berlin.
Later, Stephan Karpischek, Stephan Hamacher and Florian Resatsch further developed the ideas and talked to cooperation partners about the realization of the Mobile Prosumer.Uwe Sandner joined the team with ideas and support.
To further increase our knowledge about the usage of Near Field Communication in retail, we conducted a focus group with sales assistants and shoppers. The focus group was supported by TNS Infratest and the Technische Universität München. The results of the focus group can be read in a paper entitled “Do Point of Sale RFID-Based Information Services Make a Difference? Analyzing Consumer Perceptions for Designing Smart Product Information Services in Retail Business.” in Electronic Markets, Volume 18, Issue 3 August 2008 , Pages 216 - 231. Florian Resatsch worked on the research as part of his dissertation thesis at Technische Universität München.
Another paper will be written and released about the Mobile Sales Assistant (MSA) … a derivate of the Mobile Prosumer for sales assistants only.
If you have any questions on latest developments, please contact Stephan Karpischek or Florian Resatsch.
