I found an interesting quote from Steve Carpenter, President of Media Cart company:
“Shoppers want to be in control,” says Mr. Carpenter. “They want information when they want it and where they want it. Retailers and manufacturers have to transform the way they interact with consumers. This does that.”
Mr Carpenter refers to his tech-filled shopping cart invented by his company. You can find the interesting article at the Dallas Morning News.
“[…] Media Cart Holdings Inc. has developed a smart cart using technologies that it believes will change the way shoppers shop, advertisers advertise and retailers build loyalty.”
Interestingly it also reflects the Mobile Prosumer approach of information at the point-of-sale. Referring to John Maeda 10 laws of simplicity I think the Mobile Prosumer is readily shipped on a device, the consumer already knows to use - making it easier to use than additional technology. Maybe a combination of both, intelligent shopping cart and Mobile Prosumer software could add to customer comfort for quick and easy shopping. Tell us what you think!

The Mobile Prosumer gets around: We have already been thinking about expansion strategies to Asia. Our team member Bin is working on bringing the Mobile Prosumer to the chinese market. But the news spread more quickly than we thought
Chrisj blogs the Mobile Prosumer.
Very nice! Even if I can’t understand anything, I feel like we are on the right way. Can we get some translation, please? Greetings to our friends over there: Thanks for the nice and surprising feedback. You could do us a favour by linking to our blog as well.

Johannes came up with these really nice screen designs for the Mobile Prosumer interface (click on the images to show original size versions). I have also already seen some drafts of the animated logo-to-smiley version yesterday. Very much looking forward to see them on the mobile! Thanks a lot for this great work, Johannes! (and also for the just-in-time availability for the contest)

The Mobile Prosumer project is participating in the Berlin-Brandenburg Business Plan Contest BPW 2007. We are looking forward to the feedback on our business plan and maybe we can even win some seed funding …
I have visited the first two of the basic lectures and I am really impressed by the high quality content offered there. There will be more upcoming events e.g. on market analysis and marketing and I can very much recommend visiting them if you are planning to start a business.

Nokia just released another NFC device: the 6131 NFC. I don’t quite understand why Nokia is going for consumer devices (MP3 player) for their NFC strategy and not for business, but it is still an important step towards the proposed NFC infrastructure.
Read the article on golem or see the Nokia press release.

Another project very similar to Mobile Prosumer: Consumergadget started last year. Somehow related to the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Looks very nice but I have not found any working EANs so far. Their blog is a bit outdatet and I would like to get in contact with them.
