New NFC-based Kiosksystem at the Point-of-Sale

AIRTAG introduced a new point of sale Kiosksystem. The system is able to read RFID tags and cards (13,56MHz). What’s interesting is, that they focus on the NFC frequency band, although the obvious target group is retail business (mainly using the UHF tags). Therefore the intended interaction seems to be mobile phone/card -> kiosk, rather than product -> kiosk.
For more information check their website: http://www.airtag.com/AIRKIOSK.html

Provided functions of the kiosk include:

  • Express ordering kiosk
  • Contactless payment
  • Identification and animation on the POS
  • Loyalty and couponing
  • Interactive advertisement

If you are aware of any locations where this kiosk is already introduced, let us know.
